By joining NASW, you promise to abide by this Code of Ethics and accept examination by your peers of possible violation of its principles. This process is supervised by the State

Board of Directors
The Board of Directors oversees the operation of state programs and the Chapter Office to serve the needs of its membership, the profession, and social concerns.

Most Board members serve two year terms, with the exception of the President-elect (one year as "elect" and two years as president) and the student representatives to the Board (one year terms). Nominations to the Board may be made by any member and are considered by the Nominating and Leadership Identification Committee before a slate of officers is chosen. Chapter elections are held
every spring.

Political Action

PACE, Political Action for Candidate election, is the political action committee of the National Association of Social Workers. Created in 1976, PACE fosters the participation of interested members to elect candidates who support NASW's public policy goals. PACE is a bipartisan political committee dedicated to advancing social worker's goals in campaigns and elections.
In Oklahoma, PACE-OK makes contributions to state and local candidates who support NASW-OK's public policy goals. PACE-OK is governed by a board of directors appointed by the regional representatives to the NASW-OK Board. Funds for contributions are made available to PACE-OK through rebates when members check off PACE contributions when renewing their membership. One half of the contributions are returned to Oklahoma, with the other half going to the National PACE Board. The National Board makes contributions to federal candidates for office.
Annually, PACE-OK conducts local fundraisers to increase the amount of funds available to contribute to Oklahoma candidates. Members who know of local candidates
who support NASW public policy goals should contact their
PACE Board representative. Chair of PACE-OK is
Dr. Andrew Cherry.

Social Work Licensing in Oklahoma

The professional practice of Social Workers is regulated by the State of Oklahoma through the Oklahoma State Board of Licensed Social Workers (Licensing Board). The Licensing Board is mandated by state law which defines the rules under which social workers may practice.
The Social Work Licencing Law is defined under Oklahoma State Statutes, Chapter 32, Social Workers, Sections 1250-1272. As a requirement of this law, the Licensing Board is composed of seven members, one of which is always the NASW-OK Chapter President.
Along with licensing of social workers comes the requirement for annual continuing education credits. The NASW-OK Annual State Conference provides pre-approved CEU's designed to fulfill the Licensing Board requirements. Sponsors of educational events who wish to be pre-approved, must apply to the Licensing Board for approval.
